Chawan — Hand-Drawn Matcha Bowl
A wide porcelain bowl for whisking matcha, made and drawn on by hand — suns, clouds, animals and small wandering marks. Every one is different from the last.
The lip is pulled into a spout, so whatever you whisk you can pour. Wide enough to let a chasen move freely, and glazed smooth inside.
Our matcha is stone-ground in Ise, in Mie Prefecture — one of Japan's most respected tea regions, with more than eight hundred years of tea-growing history. We work directly with the farmers who grow it, and every batch is certified JAS Organic.
Matcha is shade-grown and stone-ground, with a bright, vegetal sweetness and a natural energy lift. Hōjicha is roasted, mellow and low in caffeine, better suited to the evening. Many keep both on hand.
Keep matcha sealed, away from light, heat and moisture. Refrigerate after opening and use within 4 to 6 weeks for the brightest flavor and color.
Orders ship within 48 hours. Free shipping on orders over 200₪. Unopened tins may be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Contact us at fermented.bar@gmail.com.
From Ise, Japan
Our matcha and hōjicha come from Maruei, a family producer in Ise, Mie Prefecture, working in direct partnership with local farmers. Tea from the Ise region was historically offered to Japan's imperial court. Every harvest is JAS Organic certified, shade grown, and stone ground in small batches.
