1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of barcafematcha.com (the "Site") and any purchase you make from it. The Site is operated by Tamar Bar (תמר בר), trading as Bar Matcha, עוסק פטור (exempt dealer) no. 300394004, of Wolfson St 42, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel ("Bar Matcha", "we", "us").
By browsing the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.
2. Who may order
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to place an order. By ordering you confirm that the information you give us is accurate and that you are authorised to use the payment method you provide.
3. Products
We sell ceremonial-grade matcha, hōjicha and related brewing tools. We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately, but colours and appearance may vary slightly between screens and between harvests — matcha is an agricultural product and natural variation in colour, aroma and taste is normal and not a defect.
Product availability is not guaranteed. We may limit quantities, discontinue a product or correct an error in a description at any time.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in New Israeli Shekels (NIS). Prices may change without notice, but a change will never affect an order we have already accepted.
Payment is taken at checkout through Shopify's payment providers. We do not store your card details.
If a product is listed at an incorrect price because of a technical or human error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full, even if the order has already been confirmed.
5. Orders
An order is an offer to buy. Our confirmation email acknowledges that we received it; the contract is formed when we dispatch the goods. We may decline or cancel an order — for example where stock is unavailable, where we suspect fraud, or where a pricing error has occurred — and will refund any amount already paid.
6. Shipping and delivery
We currently ship within Israel only.
- Orders are dispatched within 1–3 business days of being placed.
- Delivery typically takes 2–5 business days after dispatch.
- Shipping is free on orders over 200₪. Below that, the shipping cost is shown at checkout.
Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. We are not responsible for delays caused by the courier, weather, strikes or other circumstances outside our control. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
Please check the delivery address carefully. We cannot be held responsible for an order sent to an address entered incorrectly.
7. Returns and refunds
Unopened tins may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. To be eligible, the product must be unopened, unused and in its original packaging.
For food-safety reasons we cannot accept the return of opened tea powder unless the product is faulty or was sent in error.
To start a return, email us at fermented.bar@gmail.com with your order number. Return shipping is paid by you for a change of mind, and by us if the product is faulty or was sent in error. Refunds are issued to the original payment method once we have received and inspected the return, normally within 7 business days.
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 7 days of delivery, including a photo where you can, and we will replace it or refund it in full.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981.
8. Wholesale and B2B orders
Wholesale enquiries made through our B2B page are subject to separate terms, minimum order quantities and pricing, agreed in writing before an order is placed. The returns terms in section 7 do not apply to wholesale orders unless we agree otherwise in writing.
9. Brewing guidance
Any brewing instructions, recipes or guidance we publish are offered in good faith as general information. They are not dietary or medical advice. Our products contain caffeine. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or have a health condition, please consult a physician before consuming matcha or hōjicha.
10. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — text, photography, illustrations, logos and the Bar Matcha name — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may not reproduce, distribute or use it commercially without our written permission.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, to interfere with its operation or security, to attempt unauthorised access to any part of it, or to use automated tools to scrape or copy its content.
12. Third-party services
The Site runs on Shopify and uses third-party services for payments, shipping and analytics. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party site we link to.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your rights under Israeli consumer law.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal information, and forms part of these Terms.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the moment you place an order is the version that applies to it. Material changes take effect when posted here.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
